Doors Buying Guide
Choosing new doors for your home is an important and exciting decision. Since each door and opening may have different dimensions, we have structured our site to allow you maximum flexibility.
Scroll through our site until you find the design you like. You may narrow your search by wood species, door size, collection, or door model. Click on the desired door to view prices, options and additional information. Prices shown are for "slab" doors (the door only without any pre-hanging, staining, hinges, etc.). Some doors are shown stained, but are sold unfinished or primed.
Door "Slab" Orders (without frame)Slab door is just a rectangular slab of wood. No frame, casing or hardware is included (unless otherwise noted) and the door is NOT prepped for hinges or a handle. If you are replacing an existing door consider door thickness in addition to width and height. Exterior doors range from 1-3/4"-2-1/4" thick and interior doors range from 1-3/8"-1-3/4" thick. After you add the desired doors to your shopping cart you may proceed to checkout.
Orders for door slabs are usually shipped within 2-7 business days
Pre-hung Door Orders (with frame)A pre-hung door is a door that is already hanging in its own frame. By selecting the pre-hanging option, you will receive a full unit with the door prepped, hinged and assembled to your specifications. This complete package ensures smooth, easy installation with a precise fit.
Important information to know prior to buying a pre-hung door:
- Door swing –Determine the hand and swing of the door.
- Rough opening - An unfinished wall opening where a door will be installed.
- Jamb Width - The width of the door jamb not including the thickness of any trim, casings or brick mouldings. Most jambs will have a width of 4-9/16", 5-1/4" or 6-9/16" depending on whether your home is framed with 2x4's or 2x6's.
- Hardware finishes
- Boring and locksets - Placement of the handle and dead bolt.
Orders with pre-hanging options are usually shipped within 3-5 weeks
Please note: All pre-hung door units are preassembled at manufacturer and shipped with the frame dissasembled (with the exception of single door units which will arrived assembeled) to ensure no damage to the frame or doors during shipping. The crate will arrive at its destination with the door/glass assembled but the frame will not be assembled. Reassembly is simple and requires only a screwdriver. A packing list will be included inside the crate so the customer can check the accuracy of all components.
ShippingWe take great care in packaging our doors securely on a pallet and delivering them to you undamaged, safely, and in a timely fashion. We ship to all of the 48 Continental United States and Canada. We don't ship to APO, FPO, PO Boxes or personal mailboxes. Please use a valid street address for delivery of your order. All shipments are fully insured by the shipping carrier. Your order will be shipped ground via freight carrier. We will provide you with all necessary delivery information to prepare you for delivery, including: full carrier information, contact numbers, tracking numbers and turnaround times. Dealing with a freight carrier is different than using UPS or FedEx. Our doors are heavy and weight around 60 pounds+ crate. You will need at least 2-3 people to unload. Do not expect a truck driver to help you unload. You can ask a truck driver for assistance if you offer them a tip.
Shipping Damage: We will replace any damaged doors in prompt fashion. Very rarely are there any issues unless an item is damaged in transit. Please contact us immediately if you see any damage. We do ask that you inspect shipments thoroughly upon arrival and prior to signing the receipt. Damaged shipments should be refused or received with notation of apparent damage.
Payment MethodsWe accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express), Paypal, personal and cashier checks. We don’t accept money order or cash payments.
Credit card and debit cards: there is a general difference between paying with a credit card versus a debit card. Most credit card companies first authorize a customer's card when an order is placed, then actually charge the account when the item is provided -- in our case, at the time we ship your order.
Most debit cards reserve funds from a customer's bank account at the time of the original transaction. That amount, therefore, is unavailable to you. When the order ships, the bank pays that debited amount to Doors4Home.
We can only hold credit card authorization for 3 business days therefore, credit card orders will be billed after 3 days or when your order moved to production, whichever comes first.
